:: Boxing and UFC Betting
Boxing and UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) are two very different types of sport. That means you may prefer to bet on one than the other. Many of us have placed a bet on a boxing match and the day after Christmas each year is Boxing Day! So, the idea of placing bets on boxing and looking up the odds online or in the newspaper is quite traditionally British.
UFC, however, is a mixed martial arts combat sport which hails from the US and one which you can place bets on, much like you place bets on boxing matches. A big difference between traditional boxing and UFC is that UFC is based on Vale Tudo (a Brazilian combat sport where anything goes) so instead of the formulaic fighting styles attributable to boxing, Ultimate Fighting Championship fighters can use a range of fighting styles to take down their opponent.
For example, a karate champion could be pitted against a kick boxer, or a wrestler might be pitted against a boxer. There are now some strict rules for UFC and it is sanctioned by the US State Athletic Commission but the championships were originally 'no holds barred' meaning anything from biting to excessive brutality were allowed. These days, the UFC has changed its image and its focus from unrestricted combat to 'mixed martial arts' and as a result you can watch matches on the television or online. You can bet on all the different weight classes for both boxing and UFC fights and might even find you have a favourite fighter!
