:: Horse Racing Champion Hurdle Betting
The Champion Hurdle event is part of the Hurdling Triple Crown and represents what is the most prestigious race in the hurdling calendar. There has not been a consistent winner of this event for the last 5 years and as such the betting and odds are interestingly arranged.

Favourite for the 2010 Champion Hurdle is Hurricane Fly, with odds of 3/1 currently available online. Last year's winner Punjabi is slightly further down the list with odds of 10/1 offered. 2008's winning horse Katchit is way down the pecking order with odds of 50/1. However, there is always room for an old hero to make its way back to claim a glorious victory.

5 separate horses hold the honours for the most prolific sequential wins at the Champion Hurdle Race, with the earliest streak occurring between 1949 and 1951 and the most recent taking place just a decade ago between 1998 and 2000. Foot and Mouth Disease put an end to the chances of Istabraq, the three time champion, in 2001 and by 2002 the horse was past its prime despite running in the Champion Hurdle one last time.

If you are looking to place a bet with a little bit more risk involved then there are a number of 40/1 or 50/1 odds available. Horses such as Jered, Master of Arts and Ski Sunday can all be backed with the chance of a good return on your initial bet, though bookmakers will base their odds on hard facts and figures rather than speculation, so betting against the trend might not be advisable.
