:: Italy Serie A Betting
The Italian Serie A is the country's top flight professional football division and was officially founded back in 1898. Comprising some 20 football clubs as of the 2004-05 season, the Italian Serie A is a supremely competitive league that is watched by football fans from all over the world. Indeed, Serie A is still thought to produce some of the finest football teams and players around today, although its popularity was arguably at its highest during the 1990s. Juventus is Serie A's most successful club, having won 27 top flight championships, whilst the 2008-09 Serie A Champions were Internazionale.

Other notable teams that are competing in the Italian Serie A during the 2009-10 season include Lazio, Roma, AC Milan, Sampdoria and Fiorentina. The format of the Italian Serie A is much the same as any domestic English league, with a full season lasting from August to May and teams playing each other twice both at home and away. The top four teams in the Serie A qualify for the UEFA Champions League, although the fourth of these teams must enter a European qualifying phase before they can enter the group stage. Fifth and sixth placed Serie A teams will qualify for the UEFA Europa League, whilst the three lowest placed teams in the league are relegated to Serie B.

Under the guidance of José Mourinho, Internazionale – or Inter Milan – are current favourites to win the 2009-10 Italian Serie A title. There are numerous sports betting opportunities open to Serie A, including title winners, top goal scorers and individual match bets. For example, Inter Milan vs Palermo (29th October 2009) is currently available for UK based sports betting with 4/9 odds of a home win, 3/1 for a draw and a tempting 7/1 for an away win.
