:: Scotland Division 1 Betting
The Scottish Football League First Division, which is more simply known as the Scottish Division One, was founded in 1975 and consists of just ten teams. In the 2009-10 season, Airdrie United, Ayr United, Dundee, Dunfermline Athletic, Greenock Morton, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Partick Thistle, Queen of the South, Raith Rovers and Ross County are all competing for a place in the Scottish Premier League. Previous champions of the division include St. Johnstone, who were odds on favourites and won by a comfortable ten point margin in the 2008-09 season.
Sports betting applies to the Scottish Division One in much the same way as it does any other league, with the exception that there are far less teams from which to choose than in most other leagues. As of October 2009, Dundee are sitting at the top of the league and their game at the end of the month suggests they are bookmakers' favourites to continue their success. Indeed, Dunfermline v Dundee (31st October 2009) features fixed odds of 9/5 for a home win, 5/2 for a draw and just 6/5 for an away win. It is also possible to bet on the respective winners at half-time and full-time, with 33/1 odds available for Dundee prevailing in the first half and Dunfermline winning the match.
Furthermore, sports betting is also available in relation to which team may win the Scottish First Division in the 2009-10 season, with Dundee currently installed at 8/11 favourites and Queen of South and Ross County keep close attendance with 13/2 and 7/1 respectively. Ayr United are 150/1 outsiders and are currently propping up the table alongside Airdrie United, for whom bets are no longer being accepted as they are likely to be relegated at the end of the season.
