:: Ski Jumping Betting
Norwegian in origin, ski jumping involves a skier sliding down an inrun fitted with a ramp designed to help them take-off, often known as the jump. The aim of the sport is to fly as far as possible from the edge of the inrun, with points awarded for length and style. Ski jumpers use wide and long skis to maintain balance and point, with ski jumping most often performed on snow (although It is sometimes performed on artificial surfaces). Part of the Winter Olympic Games, Ski jumping is an unpredictable sport and for this reason is great for betting on - the odds can be outlandish and it's not unusual for the underdog to do far better than expected in this sport. Of course, there are always favourites in any sport and ski jumping is no exception, with notable ski jumpers with the best odds (and arguably worth a bet) such as Simon Ammann, Wolfgang Loitzl, Gregor Schlierenzauer, Janne Ahonen and Adam Malysz to name just a few.

Ski jumping for World Cup competitions is often held on three specific types of hills, each with their own exciting twist on the event. These are:

Normal Hill Competitions - On these hills, the calculation line can be found at approximately 80100 metres (260330 ft). Jumpers can reach distances of up to and over 110 metres (360 ft).

Large Hill Competitions - These are bigger than the normal hills, with larger distances often jumped. Both individuals and teams of jumpers often compete on these.

Ski-flying Competitions - Arguably the most exciting of all the competitions, these hills have a run of 185 metres and huge jumps can be performed.
