Perhaps not the first sport you think of when you fancy a flutter, but nevertheless a fantastic one to bet on, volleyball is an Olympic sport that has gained more and more support over the years. For a Summer Olympics bet, volleyball is a fun and different choice - but not an entirely new one, as the history of the event at the Olympics traces right back to the Paris Summer Olympics in 1924, where the American sports demonstration event was volleyball. In 1974 it was officially added to the Olympics line-up and has been competitively played in this world-wide sports competition ever since.

The basic rules of volleyball are simple, although the complete rules can be extensive and complex. To put it simply, volleyball is a team sport where two teams play against each other. There are 6 players per team, separated by a long net. To score points, each team must ground a ball in the other teams court. This makes volleyball a fast and exciting event, with few pauses and plenty of action. Both men and women play volleyball, although not against each other.
